UM is the second largest and second oldest university in Slovenia with a long history of excellence. It covers 17 faculties, 179 study programs and approx 14.000 students. UM aims to create a center for sustainable development for the wider region, and to connect research with the economy both through knowledge and technology transfer as well as networking between students and the labor market. The Faculty of electrical engineering and computer science (FERI) is the main executor of the tasks in the project. FERI boasts with knowledge based on the results of internationally recognized scientific research work, which passes on to students and society, thus enabling them to address challenges in working environments successfully, both in Slovenia and abroad.
As an educational and research institute, UM with its Blockchain Lab:UM will contribute in the design and development of data spaces for one of the six Use Cases, namely “Short Food Supply Chain (ZeroFLW)”. The aim of the use case pilot is to create a technical framework of the data space for the traceability of the food industry, which includes, among other things, the integration of various data sources, such as databases, data lakes as well as data from the blockchain, which ensures the monitoring of the traceability of the short supply chain.
